Our History
Nepal Majhi Women Upliftment Organization’s Central Committee was initially formed as an ad hoc committee in 2056 B.S. under the chairpersonship of Ganga Majhi and was officially registered at the Kathmandu District Administration Office on 13th Shrawan 2057 B.S. From 2057 to 2068 B.S., Chinimaya Majhi served as chairperson, followed by Asha Majhi from 2068 to 2073 B.S., and since 2073 B.S., Rita Majhi has been holding the chairperson position. Currently, the central committee consists of 15 members.
Our Vision
The Nepal Majhi Women Upliftment Organization was established with the inspiration and need to promote friendly relations based on equality among the indigenous and various caste communities living in Nepal. It aims to preserve and promote the language, religion, customs, and culture of the Majhi community, especially among Majhi women who have been residing in different parts of Nepal since ancient times. The association focuses on enhancing the educational, economic, social, and political awareness of Majhi women, empowering them to become capable and strong citizens contributing to the development of the country.
Operating independently and in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal, without interfering with any political party, organization, or other ethnic associations, this organization is committed to the comprehensive development of Majhi women and the progress of the nation.
What We Do
(a) To maintain unity within the Majhi women community and promote mutual cooperation and exchange.
(b) To organize workshops and seminars on health, education, economic, and social issues to raise awareness.
(c) To coordinate with organizations that share similar objectives.
(d) To identify the problems faced by Majhi women and seek solutions along with necessary resources.
(e) To empower Majhi women to raise their voices strongly for their rights, social justice, and to eliminate gender discrimination and harmful practices.
(f) To conduct appropriate educational, economic, and social programs within the framework of existing laws and regulations, aimed at sustainable peace and democratic practices.
(g) To strive for the preservation and promotion of language, religion, customs, and culture.
(h) This organization shall operate as a non-profit and public-benefit entity.
